Stellite
Stellite was created with the challenge of making a low waste, eco friendly battery or lightbulb brand that would encourage consumers to recycle the product.
Inspired by the additional challenge of intending to use little to no glue research led to origami, putting Stellite’s main audience in the category of the DIY community. This then became the basis for the entire brand, with the name even based after the origami term “stellate”, or arranged in a radiating pattern like that of a star. The box’s folds and lantern shape pay tribute to this, while allowing for design-minded consumers to create in the process of unboxing and are encouraged to even customize the lantern themselves. It also includes a patterned interior and removable sleeve with standard bulb information, folding instructions, and directions for joining and getting to the app.
The Stellite app is fully unlocked with a code when a bulb is purchased, and it serves as a resource for recycling drop off locations, upcycling projects, and a forum to connect fellow crafters.
